hi,

I have a tdm850, its a 2000 reg with digital odometer. I understand the carbs are different to the 1996-8 tdm850? So a dynojet kit from an earlier model will not work?

Thanks.

Why not contact dynojet and find out.

I've got a mk1 so I don't know the answer. Sorry

hello,

i don't know, if there are differences in main or idle jet sizes. But i do know, that the needles (those that wear out the emulsion tubes) are easily replaceable on the MKII carbs, but pressed in on the MKIIa. They can be replaced, but supposedly not without special knowledge and/or tools.

I'd chime in with the advice to contact dynojet or mikuni.

good luck

Basicly if i remember right the diffrerenes are
Pilot screw settings
Fuel levels
Jet's
after a date (1998?) they changed the carb models which changed the emulsion tubes to a pressed type (so you cant change them) Also the carb size got bigger (40mm up to 42mm?)

i think a pre 99 dynojet kit will work, but not as well as a 99 onwards kit

I just added a page to my site about TDM carbs characteristics.

There are some difference between 1996-1998 & 1999-2001 carbs.

I bought some 4TX 00 year carbs and fitted them onto my 94 3VD.

Straight swap and bike fired up lovely, ticking over smooth and not a blip or splutter ! There's a sudden loss of revs on throttle roll-off and above 5000rpm she's flat. Also, she's running rich...I think !

I'm pretty sure the needles are longer in the 00 carbs than the earlier 'uns, which may make a difference when fitted the Kit.
The 00's are definitely longer than the aftermarked needles I took out of mine...about 8-9mm.
The 00's are definitely longer than the new standard needles for my 3VD...about 5mm.
Main jets are different sizes, not looked at any other jets etc yet.
