I was made aware of a peculiar building less that 14km from where I live, so it being a decent day decided to go out and track it down. This meant going along a narrow road which soon deteriorated into a muddy track.

This was near enough to get a good view of the local power station on the north side of the Loire and 50m or so of walking got me to the river bank.

There on the left is an odd looking sort of structure, here's a better view...

This definitely called for further investigation so it was a jaunt over the Pont St Nazaire and a ride along some pretty wee roads through the water meadows on the north bank. And there tucked away along a lane beside the power station was this...

This is The Villa Cheminee. It was conceived by a Japanese artist ( why I don't know !) and is now open to the public to use as a super viewpoint where you can look right out to the see and even get a glimpse of the higher buildings in Nantes itself.

The house itself is closed but you apparently can rent it out. There really is some odd things along this river,

Trays beans.

Treadered reasonably close to that in 2012. Crossed Loire by little ferret a bit further inland so missed that spectacle.
