How much should there be (if any)?

Last winter (after reading all the various threads cautioning of potential frame damage) I removed the dreaded bush which joins the suspension linkage to the frame on one side (what were Yamaha thinking?).  It came out ok and was just a bit discoloured at one end, as opposed to noticeably damaged. I reversed it round and re-used the bush. I also checked & lubricated all the other roller bearings and bushes before reassembling. They seemed ok, and she went through MoT ok in March so forgot all about it.

This weekend I've been doing some maintenance in underneath the bike and noticed that there seems to be a bit of side-to-side freeplay from the linkage where it attaches to the frame, probably 1mm at a guess, maybe a smidge more.  How much movement should there be here? Do I need to push out the dreaded bush again and replace it, along with the linkage roller bearing that attaches around it? Suspect I know the answer but would rather not go back in there yet again....

Axial play on the bush along the axis of the bolt is normal. These are a drawn cup needle bearing made by IKO in Japan running on a ground hardened sleeve.

They have no control over axial play in themselves, this is set by the thickness of the suspension  link arm in the frame lug.

Radial play, if you put a lever under rear wheel when on centre stand and attempt to move the wheel up and down, is not desirable at all.

The frame lug bearing is the TA1720Z, these need a press tool to fit, as you can only press on one end of the bearing which needs a supporting top hat.

I'm sure I made a set of tools to fit these for someone on here years ago, but I still have a toolset I made for myself, if you need to borrow one.
