Well, it seems like a perfectly logical move in my opinion. Combining two things we love here of Carpe - what cold be better?


2004 Galaxy Blue. Owned since 486 miles.Renthal 755 bars, Bagster tank cover, Oxford heated grips, DL650 hand guards, Double Bubble screen, Scorpion Rad guard, Gel pad insert, HLD undertray, Angry Badger tailtidy,  Roadsmart 4s, Givi E21s, E46 topbox, Ohlins shock and YSS cartridge emulators   Currently not fitted - PC3, Remus Revolutions.

1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now :(
2009 900 abs, 42k miles, Yamaha heated grips, double bubble screen, R&G crash bungs, scottoiler, Autocom, 1500 lumen LED spotlights.

Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

Active member of TPLQHCSRSFC and TSRMCMAS (even though a year off) and avid fan of PM not sent.

If it were a mk2 you’d have to keep topping up the oil.

Perfect bike, perfect cake. Niners dont leak or need topping up. Well mine dont
2002 900 silver,oil pressure switch with brass 90 degree conversion, RG fork protectors. Wilburs custom made rear Shock with remote hydraulic preload and RG shocktube, Wilburs front springs. Scotoiler with a custom made swing arm delivery unit. Silicone radiator hoses.BMW 1150 handguards with Touratech extensions, Carbon Fibre yoke cover and fender extenda, MRA flip screen, Yamaha Engine bars, SW Motech Centre Stand, Kappa wingrack three box Luggage with E21's as option from the K960 boxes, Zumo 660 satnav on Touratech mount, Led Voltage monitor, Baglux tank cover, Clear LED Rear light, Aux LED brake light, BikeVis bullet LED's under front  nose,Stainless rear axle nut, stainless chain adjusters, stainless wheel spacers front and rear, Probolt Polished Stainless Flanged Hex engine screws, Polished stainless fairing screws, stainless disc bolts. Titanium brake pins front, Probolt Titanium Flanged Hex Front Caliper Bolts & Rear caliper slide pins Adventure Spec Tool tube under rear rack, left and right sides with custom alloy mounts.<p>Top Sellerie double gel pad seat. It's the way they are ridden. I commuted on triggers broom for a few years without using a drop...but take almost any tdm (including 9ers) on. nanook of the North Highland blast.. and tadaaa oil use.

How have you managed that ?

I creep along like an old fart ! Sans permis and 50cc scooters pass me on the road.

 Actually, most of the roads I ride around here are limited to 80 kph which is 3000 rpm in top gear for me. Dual carriageways are 3500 rpm for 90 kph andif I occasionally venture onto a Route Nationale where the limit is 110 kph that's still only 4500 rpm. 

Also, I change my oil every 5000 km or 6 months whichever comes first and use semi synthetic 10w/40

How have you managed that ?


My Mk1 never needed topping up between oil changes (~5000km) for 80.000kms. I normally drive at the highest gear the bike would go happily...
