Hi All,

I recently bought my first TDM 900, year 2008 and unfortunately in Chile the do not come with ABS option. I would like to do this upgrade if possible, but there is almost nothing related to this subject that I could find on internet.

Any advise, suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Mihailo

My advice - Forget it.

The ABS is too complex to install yourself, requires some items to be moved to a different location, a different wiring loom and maybe even a different ECU.

Go take a look at a factory maintenance manual to see the very long chapter about the system and compare the different wiring diagrams between the standard and ABS versions. A simple example of the differences is that the "idiot lights" below the speedo/tacho have the ABS light at the right hand side and the L & R indicators share the left-most light.

I could go on further.

Forget it.

It depends on your technical skills, the money you're willing to spend to buy parts and the amount of time it requires.

Technicaly speaking, if you're familiar with this kind of stuff, you're the man !

IMHO this is not a hard job (for me) but it's too expensive compared to the actual performance increase.

You need to change both wheels, the seat and some minor parts.

The main ECU remains the same, there is another ABS-ECU to add along with the ABS wiring loom to adapt to the main loom and all the hydraulic system.

I don't know if the dash may be adapted easily or if you need to buy the specific ABS dash.

I guess my technical skills would be up to this task, even if I have a little or none experience with the stuff like...  ;)

However, from this two replies I could say that it would also be a pretty costly thing to do. I was thinking that maybe some new valve controllers, ECU reprogramming and new set of discs would do the trick.

Does anyone have any service documentation on how this should be done, or have some personal experience? Just for curiosity...

Thanks,
