Replaced the CCT at the same time as doing valve shims. I put in the later type tensioner. Went to JBX's site for how to set it and site has disappeared!
2 questions:
Anyone know if JBX down is permanent?
To set the new tensioner do you pull the tag out directly or rotate and pull?

Thanks Rallyist. Works for me too today. JBX is a good repository of info.
The answer: just a straight pull out. Did that and it set fine.

So I am about to get this done on my 9 at the local Kawasaki dealership for mega bucks! Is it necessary for them to also check the timing hasn't jumped when thye do it or can I get away with just the unit replacement? Cheers for any advice received.

When I did mine I got No 1 cylinder at TDC then changed them. The idea is the cam has less chance of moving as inlet and exhaust lobes are getting a bit of contact.
Once replaced always turn the engine over without plugs by hand before trying to start.

I vaguely remember doing the same when I did mine, but it was a long time ago back around 2006/7. Wasn’t the tensioner a recall? I’m pretty sure I didn’t pay for mine at the time.
Edit- just checked and it wasn’t. Only recall was for the tps.

Thanks guys. I'm not totally useless with the spanners and have done various mundane bits myself before like pads, discs, oil changes, brake line replacement and chain and sprockets. However with an engine I am almost a virgin when it comes to stuff inside! I've only ever changed out the oil pump and removed a spinner on my lad's 125 Honda Grom! I'd rather shell out on the CCT job than mess it up!
