Mine unfortunately started doing it again yesterday in the torrential rain sad.gif

Not done me plastic diping yet but will be doing tomorrow, i can only presume this time it was a short to the frame and not another dodgey coil.

Lew i dipped the coil as well as the 'aitch tea' lead, i would advise yew to dip the lead/coil assembly at least twice or tree toimes in order to get a noice fat coating. Then alls ya gotta do is expose the coils flat blade connector terminals by cutting away any excess plasti dip with a stanley blade/scalpel. I also made an effort to 'shroud' the plug/socket connectors once the coils were plugged in and ready to go in order to prevent rain water mist/spray affecting them. good luck and best wishes.

spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

FFS Lewis i ain't gonna hold ya hand and wipe ya ass too rotflmmfao.gif just ring em up and ask for the desired length of standard silicone HT lead you tink you'll need, and they'll post it to ya and den ya can cut it to the desired length fer left and roight hand soide. Mine started doing the same this week - riding every day in rain - looked closer and shorting on head - lifted ht leads up and problem gone for now. Going to do the tape fix this weekend to cure longer term. Yamaha engineers are you reading this forum - so many cheap fixes to make a great bike even better - free R&D here.

Pjay,

Oid replace the leads and then (as an extra precaution if you feel its needed) tape. Just putting tape on leads that are already breaking down is a bandage rather than long term fix. The magnecor outer coating really is superior to the OEM stuff.

Defo agree...

I ended up wasting a reel of SA tape on old leads.

Get some of this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230847455491), and tape it up - mines held out longer than the coils did!!

Had issues with my Tenere in early December. Its OK left out in the rain, but parked it for a couple of nights in the freezing fog and it did not like that one bit. Also have problems when garaged if wife has tumble-drier going this weather. Dried with a hair-dryer, sprayed liberally with WD40 - started fist touch.

Now have issues with TDM. Doh! Still - been waiting for an excuse to put new spark plugs in. Mine are about 50-60K miles old.

XT1200Z - Big and bouncy

GTR1400 - Chaufer the wife.
XT660Z - Fun and commute.
TDM900 - Yellow.
