Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

In my case, no; bike is original as Yamaha intended.

All mine has it Symtec grips, which are powered via a relay so don't heat up until engine is running, and I have a low beam HID.
Everything else is standard.
Only thing that I can link to my failure was a long (2hr+) journey home from work in the snow, so I was only managing about 10-15mph most of the way, so figured that was the culprit in my instance.
Bike had done ~ 85k miles when mine fried.

Mark I think you need to dig a bit deeper into the cause.
