Incidentally i finally changed the sprocks and chain at 24000 miles (but that was only cos it went in for a major service for valve clearances etc, so could easily have got more miles - just seemed convenient to do the whole lot at once)

clearances due at 24k ?? i assumed it was 28k ???

spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I loike tay and hang sangwiches !

What ? Once a year, whether she needs it or not rotflmmfao.gif rotflmmfao.gif

Mine's about 1200 miles off the valve shim service, so I'm hoping I can delay it until March/April - means a bit of TDM mileage rationing sad.gif

1) Is ChainSaw oil really any good?

I was thinking of trying engine oil when my Scottoil bottle runs out. Camchains seem to last quite well on it. wink.gif Anybody tried this? Does it work with the Scotty or does it just pish out in no time? unsure.gif

You should to use an oil that's o ring or x ring friendly.

Since O-rings are rubber, I assumed it would be fine. Never heard of a rubber rocker cover gasket or cap seal rotting because the owner failed to use Scottoil in the engine! wink.gif laugh.gif In fact, engine oil is the recommended thing to use with a loobman chain oiler, but delivery rate doesn't matter there since it's governed by how often you squeeze the bottle. I just wondered if a Scottoiler would be able to cope with the low viscosity, or would the delivery be too fast? Anyone tried it?

I use my OLD engine oil. I run it through a couple of coffee filters in a funnel to remove any bits or pieces of crud. Oil is still a bit blacker than usual, but so what, thats mainly microbits of carbon. It also saves me having to trek up to council site to dispose of old oil.

Is this just for manual application or do you use it in a Scottoiler?

Well, Project Tenere is about to be put on hold as I'm using her for the work run and TDM is going to get some tlc, which means oiler is going on. I'm going to use some low viscosity oil and see how it runs.

I will report back cool.gif
