And why not press fit a large steel ring onto those really fantastic rear one-piece aluminum dampers, to make absolutely certain there will be no galvanic pitting corrosion eating up the alu hidden behind the steel. And the list goes on and on.
I spent as much on hydraulic oil as I did on diesel on that one. But when it worked ... best car ever. Once, I loaded 7-800 kilos of sand in the rear (for lack of a trailer), and it kneeled completely on the rear axle. Until I started the engine, and it popped right back up again, effortlessly. It floated like a flying carpet over the speedbumps in our lokal road. I was seriously impressed! But then I was hit no less than three times within a year, last one wrecking the right side completely. Gave it up then.
On the bright side,I did get £6000 in all for the various damages, on a £3000 car.

Must be missing summat but very difficult to diagnose without being able to see the fault occur.
Next attempt is to remove orig ends where it enters motor and put on replacement cables!!!!

Ingenious. Some of his videos are real funny.
If you could get some correct size brass hex bar you might be able to tap it and fit a grub screw in there, along with some solder for good measure. Prolly only take a day.

Latest fun times......
The rear window wiper started activating when the indicators or foorbrake operated..with the wiper switch in off positon lolziooooo. I couldn't believe it at first but yes Indeed.
I have learnt a neat trick to find the source of problems...the previous "mechanic" didn't like bolts...a huge waste of time. So when a panel has 5 out of the 7 bolts missing you know you are on the right track to finding an existing bodge. In this case a poorly fitted rear wiper motor letting copious amounts of water in and filling the relay.
Nexxxt onto existing problems. The heated rear window not working. I traced this again to a relay that had melted itself into the fuse box panel...ughh. not only relay toast but also relay connector in back of fuse box melted....ewwwwww. The only 50% of bolts in the fuse box panel told me the eeejit had probably also traced this problem but thankfully given up. Still working on this one as the relay socket notttt available.

I know it's nice to have the right socket for the relay but you could use spade connecters of another socket off a different car.

The socket also twists in to locate it in the fuse box area so without that it would just be flapping around.
Ahaa exactly like this...except less access on HDI Pug. http://www.306gti6.c...d.php?id=146452

Since then.... Nothing much interesting has happened with the pug, until yesterday when I turned the enjun oft and took the key oooot. Except someone forgot to tell the pug as it was still running haaa. Erm it did stop eventually and then chucked up an enjun loight. Tried again and same thing. Then it behaved but I decided to pop along to some clever peeps with a posh plug.
The posh plug said "intermittent fault. Fuel pressure regulator. Stop requested but regulator still active"
Hmmm so I guess diesel fool pamp has some regulator on it that is playing up. Haynes also suggests there is a stop solenoid so could be that. Neither sounds loike a great deal of fun. ლ(^o^ლ)

Too lazy to read back but is this an old school xud9 diesel or am I a slightly drunk deluded old git with dodgy memory? (all bits past enjun query are far too true due to local pub having a very nice stout)
If so there is a solenoid on the pump that should cut the fuel when enjun is told to sod orf, normally +12v when ignition on, maybe sticking.
I gotta set of injectors for non turbo version if anyone wants them, XUD9-162.
Solenoid should be fairly cheap.

I'd prolly check the solenoid first as the pump can't carry on running if there's no power to it, assuming pump is not mechanical ?
