thankyou for taking the time and effort looking for the accomodation. I'm sure Matt will be looking at these places as soon as the voting closes and he knows who's likely to be attending. :good:

I like to have done.
I picked out about 40 hotels.
Many hotesl are already complete.
Half the hotels has too few beds.
Other hotels have higher prices.

If the place is decided, so I can ask camping in the garden or camping place nearby.

Hi Limbo

Many thanks for taking the time to source rooms for us. We don't need to all be in the same hotel. As long as they are in the same town will do usually. We tend to do a bit of a pub crawl at night anyway sampling plenty of ale! Monschau was a good starting point but mainly because I have been a few times and know that bikes etc would be safe at night. Once we have a few more definitely signed up and firm dates then I will be asking for help over the water in finding a place we can all get to easily and stay within walking distance of each other. I have stayed at the Hotel Royal all the times I have visited. Did they say how many they can accommodate?

Thanks again

Matt

The Royal Hotel has 14 double rooms.
To date, still free.
The hotel has contact to the nearest hotel (i think the Burghotel) where more carpes can to sleep and in the morning can have breakfast with us.
As a group, about 20 people, we will get 10% discount off the price

The hostel (Jugendherberge Monschau) in the old castle with dorm rooms and bunk beds is also not far. There are also beds available and the hostel costs for Half Board about half price from the hotel.

Did you ask new, I will help you with pleasure.
I have free time and telephone flatrate to germany

It seems that given the number of votes, Monschau will be the chosen destination fot the RTT. When will the polls close so that we can finalise the dates too?

Matt suggested leaving the poll open until the end of the month Ali. I don't think there'll be any more votes now though, given the time the polls have already been running.

What say ye Matt ?

End it this weekend Studders? Aim for 13th July for 5-7days? Would like the Hotel Royal although the one with the pool sounds nice and Simmerath is only up the road but Monschau would be a better bet for the evening frivolities ;)

Looking at dates etc how about arrive Monschau Sunday 14th and depart Friday 19th. This will give folks days either side to do their own thing if they like. Discuss?

Okeedokee, I've altered the post titles for this and the date poll.

Can start a new topic for discussing the particulars after the polls close yeah ?

Sounds good Matt. I see that on the Royal's website they have a special offer - arrive on a Sunday and get 5 nights for the price of 4. That would tie in with your suggestion. They also have an offer of 4 for 3 if you arrive on Monday.

Could you ask if the Hotel Royal is available Sunday 14th for 5 nights. I will ask Studley to put up a list for numbers wanting to attend. The hotels website has 5 nights for 4 on offer. Could you also ask a price for single occupancy. Some people don't like sharing a room. Me included ;) I don't want the world knowing I snore!!

The price per person is € 37.50 for regular B & B in a double room.
The price for one person is regularly € 47 for B & B in a double room alone.
As a group we will get 10% discount on these prices.
I'll ask if there is a discount on the half board (15 €).

The date of Sunday 14th should be no problem, the boss-lady told me, and July is still completely free. But I will certainly ask.

The 5-day supply (20% disc) I find good. Therefore we will not get the group discount, but I ask.
Not depart on a Sunday is a possibility on the way to buy something.

In Google Earth, it looks as if you can not find a parking space in Monschau. I will also ask about parking.

Can you roughly estimate how many beds do we need?
We can then block these beds at the Hotel binding until we have accurate bookings. I've been using 18 - 25 beds counted.

We parked at the side of the hotel next to the fire station. Not a problem there apparently.

Thanks for all your help on this Limbo.

I have answers!

There is a 5 day offer on Sun 14th for us without the group discount.

A person with the child pays single room rate + 15 € - Discount.
€ 47 + € 15 = 63 € -20% = € 50.40 (5 days arrival Sun)

We pay for half board as group 13 €

It costs 1 € per day tourist tax.

It is not possible to pay by credit card. There are ATMs in the area.

One normal garage is at the house. A large garage 80m along the road.
There is free space for bikes directly at the house.

We can the whole place provisionally on Sunday 14th July to Friday block.
By the end of the year, we should not have any specific numbers for single / double room.

At booking.com you can see the opinions of other guests on the hotels.
The Hotel Royal has same level as the more expensive Paulushof.
In Paulushof want the food to be expensive, and the swimming pool and the sauna be bad.

There are some camping very near Monschau.
Google shows the camping
https://maps.google....2&ved=0CJQBELYD

Everything is not a problem. The lady understood my German and the telephones working well.

Again thanks for the help. Ask the Royal to book it for the 5 nights and we will get numbers as soon as possible. I for one will have a room for myself so there's one definite booking. We will sort out deposits etc when the other thread starts. I'm sure we can get 14 rooms filled!
