It’s classed as a classic now. Most I’ve ever paid was about £280 and that was with agreed value and full euro breakdown cover included.

I am relieved that my other bike insurance is only up by £1 to £123. I have to admit satisfaction with the AA this year.

My entire fleet is covered on separate policies. The Maser, the truck and the x trail all cost the same within a fiver at around £180, as do the a Guzzi and niner at around £85. The only exception in the Golf at just under £400. Work that out!

Seem to recall that the ins. co. just puts a value, for example, of less than £3k, then if you need to claim, you'll need to prove it's value.  You'll prolly need some proof of it's value if it's above the insurers limit though and your premium might well reflect that.  Might be worth seeing if you can get classic bike insurance.

I get a Valuation certificate (provided by the broker, who specialises in classic/ modified vehicles)  on the Maser after providing photos. The certificate lasts for two years. Very easy process ad relatively stress free. Might be a little different for bikes though.

A friend recommended BEMOTO to me, so I tried them when I recently bought me Bonneville T100. I couldn't believe it when they came in at half the price of the best comparison sites.

 

They are not 'on line' so you have to ring them in person, but I found them very helpful. Also if you need to make changes there's no charge and if you've got more than one bike it can be added on at a later date - in my case £80 for the TDM900!

Just got my AA roadside renewal offer in. Just like most insurance, it is beyond the realms of reality. Up 15% when, like most of the nation,I have driven 3 times in 3 months and not ridden the bike since October. More grief.

I’ve just been insurance shopping. I did consider a multi-bike policy but they all worked out more expensive than separate policies! Interestingly, CN was the best quote for all three bikes on a multi bike policy - £230 ish.

Using the comparison sites, the best stand alone quote for the XL was just under £45 with zero NCB.

 

Just insured the TDM too - £87 fully comp, max NCB!

 

Buell already insured around £100 fully comp, but would cost to change which brings it out above the cheapest multi bike quote.

 

I hope to retire in the next 12 months so, much as I enjoy them all, at least one bike will have to go, probably the Buell.

Another shout for Bemoto, they came good for me in the past, plus no admin fees for policy changes

AA breakdown reduced their premium to £2 less than current year. Only because I phoned, put up with 20 minutes of waiting and enjoyed two cut-offs. No arguments necessary from me though.

Bemoto not coming through for me, £100 more than the cheapest quote, that's for standard insurance ie, current value of a mk1 and we have'nt even got to the agreed value stage yet, so that's a NO.... it's does'nt help that this bike was a cat-c and an import in 2007 to boot, replacement exhaust, rear shock and brake upgrade on a 28 year old bike are modifications and not replacements due to age and wear, so if you want a lower premium ride around on an unsafe bike, Bikesure likewise.

 

Already paying a premium based on the cat c and import of the bike plus me off in 2016.......i think my bike may become an expensive garden ornament cos me money tree has died... 

 

Tossers the lot... put's me right off owning a bike these days..

They all do that now. Once your policy is up and running, you need to give them a call and ask them to remove that option. They will tell you that it is for your convenience so that you don't inadvertantly forget to renew.    Yeh, right. You can wait until the renewal comes in but you then run the risk of forgetting and getting shafted.

Handy little tip for saving yourself hanging on the telephone (there's a tune in there somewhere). My "auto" renewal came up recently with Bennetts. Rather than call them and sit on hold for hours paying through the nose for the privilege, I used their online chat. The good thing was that I could walk away while awaiting a real person to chat with and when they did reply, I got an email notification to say the chat gone "active" again. Saved me a few quid in phone calls and also rip off renewal prices. They were, of course, instructed at the time of policy start to disable the auto renewal, which, of course, they hadn't.
