I should be OK for day trip at least and, personally, would prefer 15-17th weekend. Festival of 1000 Bikes is 9-10th at Mallory Park, and I was going to try for this as well. It also gives a bigger break from germany trip.
Sorry of the date is already fixed and I have failed (as usual) to spot it

Dave
Many thanks, Dave (I as a bit confused by post 2)
Now Mrs K has retired, I will be under a bit of pressure to be getting away in't campervan.
However, if not for the full weekend, I should hopefully be OK to join in for a one day ride out on those Welsh roads.
Just wish I had got to know them before I reached my new 'becalmed' status.

Dave, just had a quick look at the Swallow balls site and it looks like you have to park yer vehicle in the car park, not allowed to park on campsite. Dunno if it applies to bikes.

This is a really nice place to camp but you will be limited to access and departure times as its an Island and crossing the road to it will be covered at high tide.
But they do have a bar and plenty of outside seating.
Swallow falls is really nice as well, go there often for coffee.

Yeah shell island is a great camp site but i think bikes have to be parked in car park...
also during the summer months it can be full of scally's and large groups's of bass pumpin teens in drift mobiles
Finding a camp site with bunk house and nearby pub is easy its finding one with a cheap B+B
