Wish I'd stood for election to the European parliment coz then I'd be able to ride through France every week and be hansomly paid for doing so; plus, with all those lovely expenses I could claim I wouldn't have to pay for the petrol and would easily be able to afford a brand new 9er and load it up with lots of goodies.

Not wishing to tempt fate now, but the wholesale Euro exchange rate has just gone past 1.17, which it's not seen for some time. It's rather volatile so may well yoyo a bit before we go but certainly looking better than earlier in the year.

I've already got my Euros for the trip, but maybe some might want to think about ordering now, though I am NOT a foriegn exchange expert and it may well continue to rise, so perhaps wait - who knows! mellow.gif

Yep, I'm still going (can't wait) rolleyes.gif

Don't worry about finding somewhere to stay as there are loads of B&B's, small hotels or hostels which are quite cheap if you don't fancy camping. I'm planning to camp all week in France but assuming that our first night will possibly be in the Pyrenees I'd rather pay for a room as it gets absolutely freezing in the mountains at night even in mid summer.

It takes longer than you think to get into the Pyrenees from santander - & the ferry docks around midday, so Don't be thinking of going too far into France that first day - Bayonne or Biarritz is plenty.

In the second day, it's worth visiting the Pic Du Midi - go there via Lourdes & the Col De Tourmalet.

I really envy you lot, but can't' complain too much, as I spent last week riding around the Eastern Pyrennees on me MkII laugh.gif

Thanks for the reminder. Need to replace my front tyre, just been quoted £96 for a PR2 fitted to a loose wheel which doesn't sound too bad.

Need to sort out contact details with your mate who's on the same ferry as me too.

Im a bit excited too. Came back home today to do a test loading.
All the camping kit goes into the top box. Riding gear goes into one E21, clothing sandals towel and wash kit into the other. Tent on rear seat
Lidl Tank bag for Shiney Stuff.

Just rang my Best Mate giveusahug.gif in Spain, He's confirmed Tony Kris Ray n Me are welcomed.

Still to do:

Bleed brakes round Tony's

i had new PR2s fitted to the bike yesterday (£220 @ RideInBike tyres Reading)
the old front was fecked, the rear had around a mm left before the TWI, but was a really funny shape so had to go
MOT sorted, tax expires at end of month tho dry.gif

i was hoping to have Gs old mk1 up and running for Kris to ride to the RTT but i think events have conspired against me and time is now an issue.
so it looks like Hoolie will be taking her bandit instead (which means i gotta order coils as they are dodgy when hot dry.gif)

camping gear on the pillion seat, tools & food in the left pannier, cooking & gas in the right, clothes in the topbox, tankbag for travel docs and camelpak for inflight refreshment

Cats me ol'mucker, i gotta bleed Kris brakes tonight so if ya wanna pop over you're welcome
i got loads of DOT4 so just bring ya self wink.gif
