FANTASTIC!! What a result
The on/off low speed throttle response has all but gone, bottom end torque has increased and the engine is just so much more usable between 2000 and 3000 rpm. Fantastic...it feels like a new bike!!
If you've gotta 900 and haven't carried out option 1 referenced in the link above....do it....you won't be sorry

I agreee, I carried out the modification about a month ago, really worthwhile. Easy even for me....
I followed option 1, everything was exactly as described, what a pleasure to have illustrations that really work - thanks JBX!
However, I seem to be short of a few fairing screws / rubber nut thingies / fastners by now from a mixture of clumsiness and other factors. Any advice on how to best get replacements, anyone? Thanks.

I guess you chose option #1 (disconnect & plug the breather pipe) for simplicity?

Halfords sell wee packs of fairing screen kits ( screws and wee rubber thingys )

Yep, and just as Sven says, the mod is just as JBX details. I was getting really hacked off with the low speed jerky throttle response but an idle search through the JBX files revealed a very welcome solution.

Don't think so, using mod. route 1 - just need to block off the airbox end of the hose (I used the end plug off a ballpoint pen). Anyone else to comment?

I don't think it's necessary.
It's the hose that operates the vacuum valve, once it is disconnected and plugged you're good to go.

btw i hv purchased a O2 sensor tinngi, claimed a bph gain of btw 15 to 20!!!
Simple installation (not until i have sort out which wire to cut!!! )
Shall see whether it does wat it claimed.....

Due to heavy rain this afternoon I didn't go for a testride. Maybe tomorrow if the rain stops.
Just one question about this air box mod; have any of you experienced any kind of drawbacks afterwards...?

None that I've heard of, but today I had to fire her up twice from cold - just a sporadic glitch? - so tweaked the idling revs up a shade.

Putting some pics up today of 850. If you look closely at one of the pics, Pete is standing beside the bike.
