Hi to all
I present you a report: how to repair water pump for Yamaha tdm 900.

I apologize in advance for my bad English :)

My problem start here:
http://www.carpe-tdm...9191&hl=mosquit

I found the oil leak, visual inspection and autopsy showed to the pump and pump seals.
I looked the pictures and part numbers but not found the right seals and parts separately.
The pump is only sold assembly, but is not cheap, and wait for the order.

Winter long and snow in Russia, I studied the subject and different forums and topics. Unequivocal answer was nowhere, and I went my experimental way.
I thought it unlikely Yamaha makes different parts to other pumps and I found Kit, this type of Hot Rods Water Pump Repair Kit Yamaha YZ250 99-12:

http://www.ebay.com/...?pt=Motorcycles _Parts_Accessories & Fits = Make% 3AYamaha & hash = item35d12ee256 & vxp = mtr

I looked on my disassembled pump and repair-kit set, all details very similar, and there are all inexpensive, several times cheaper pump assembly. Since all of the parts of set I did not need, then ordered some parts separately.

I need seals (rubber with spring) for bearing seal which seal on the impeller, the bearing itself and all the rubber rings, plus a new gasket for pump.
That's part numbers:
11H-12438-10-00
In a set two seals, one for  the impeller shaft, the second with a spring rubber seal is pressed into the "holder", this is the main parts that I needed.
Also ordered and changed:
Bearing:

93306-00105-00
Oil seal for bearing:
93101-12173-00

3LD-12439-00-00 Gasket pump
93210-33133-00 Gasket ring which stay into the motor carter.
Plus these two rings 93210-21190-00, he also stay on the tube pump.

For clarity, the process spread the video as it is done on a pomp thundercat example, are basically the same parts and the same principle too.

The most important thing to do everything carefully and do not rush :)
Good luck to everyone. I hope it will be useful to someone.

Will ask questions.

RolfieB, What do you mean? ;)  How do I compare ST1200 vs TDM900? :)
What are the pros and cons? Which is better?

I try a little bit later to supplement the report.
If I wrote something unclear, correct me please, that was understandable :)

to put the water seal as it is very fragile, I'll buy these parts to measure and make an alloy drift to fit.

If you have access to an arbour press  it with press it in square. Thank Mosquit for taking the time to research this.

Seem to remember in a PM you were looking at an exhaust can for a 1200 Tenere, maybe I got it wrong. Getting old. Deleted messages recently.

Add a bit of information with picture.

4. Water pump seal set11H-12438-10-00. In this set also position 9 & 8, if I remember correctly the rubber ring is installed on the holder. Picture of this set below.

19217-611-000.jpg

I think this set is universal for many Yamaha models.

5. Bearing: 93306-00105-00

6. Oil seal: 93101-12173-00

10. Gasket pump: 3LD-12439-00-00.  This also applies to TDM850, TRX850 and XTZ750

Yes that's right. I moved from TDM900 to the Super Ténéré 1200. I love this bike. This is another motorcycle it does not compare with TDM, they are different.
ST is large and comfortable travel enduro, it's heavy weight, motor with vibrations and noisy, but after TDM its normal and habitually. At first time I wanted to BMW R1200GS, but the choice is made in the direction of Yamaha again. I think Japanese motorcycles more reliable.
Traveled from Russia to Georgia in May on it. All I like about him. Unfortunately crashed on supertenere and Parts wait until I go back to TDM. To be honest, it is very unusual after ST ride on TDM.
This is another bike and has its own pros and cons. But I'm happy with it.
I think this can be discussed in another topic, if you're interested;)

Exactly, this should also applicable on tom 850 pumps. One can change the 900 pump to a 850 water pump. All relevant dimensions and bolt pattern are the same, only the color and appearance features differs.

So Im restoring a92 tdm 850 and Im trying to remove the water pump assy, still waiting on a Haynes shop manual. Ive ordered all the seals and o-rings. Got all the bolts out of the pump. Can I tap the assembly off from the other side or do I have to do more engine disassembly? I dont think I have to but you never know🥴

Thank you gents for the info on the water pump removal. Ill definitely be careful with the thrust washer. I tried the gentle pry method but wouldnt budge. The bike has been sitting since 1994 so shes reluctant to let parts go. The redeeming value is the bike only has 10k miles on the clock.
