I was wondering when the return to pootling occur.

From a quick Google it looks like it is scheduled for 05apr when "stay at home" is removed.

Is this what other carpedians understand to be the case or are we in with "outdoor sports" or summat?

This will help tyre kicking...err I mean mot test and tax preparation.

My understanding is the 29th March, when the stay at home rule ends.

Rule of 6/ 2 households still applies though.

MCN article reveals that from 29 March you could ride with up to 5 mates (max of 6).  April 12th sees non essential retailers opening (eg kit), and outdoor hospitality opens. But all depends on Covid improvements continuing as expected. It is still 'watch this space'. I am now thinking of arranging bike service and Mot at the end of this month (I assume MoT is operating normally) - like thousands of others?

https://www.gov.uk/g...ng-2021-summary

From 8th March,

Social contact

People will be allowed to leave home for recreation and exercise outdoors with their household or support bubble, if they are eligible for one, or with one person from outside their household.

From 29th March

Social contact

The evidence shows that it is safer for people to meet outdoors rather than indoors. And this is why from 29 March, when most schools start to break up for the Easter holidays, outdoor gatherings (including in private gardens) of either 6 people (the Rule of 6) or 2 households will also be allowed, making it easier for friends and families to meet outside.

Travel

The ‘stay at home’ rule will end on 29 March but many restrictions will remain in place. People should continue to work from home where they can and minimise the number of journeys they make where possible, avoiding travel at the busiest times and routes.

Soooooo, recreation outdoors from the 8th might mean riding yer mokeyboike and meeting up with one other person outdoors. Think it might be pushing it to travel any significant distance to meet up though.  What also matters is how the police interpret the info.

I keep hearing bikes near me at weekend out for a blast. Guess if you don't do anything daft and keep to the speed limit then why would plod want to pull you over, unless he's a scooter boy at heart and hates bikers?

I remember someone getting into bother with the plod who required proof that they were on the way to the MoT.  Just bad luck being stopped, I think.
